Description: |
The department or functional group to which the intern is assigned develops an internship plan, taking into account the intern's academic background, interests, maturity and other needs. In many cases, the intern will work with an experienced senior employee, who will provide guidance and assistance on a specific project or task. In other cases, interns work independently on a specific problem or effort with staff oversight and assistance. Interns receive feedback on an ongoing basis, and usually receive a formal evaluation at the end of their internship. The majority of internships occur during the summer months (May through August). Opportunities are often available in electronic systems, information technology, integrated systems, mission systems, business management, ship systems, space technology, and internal auditing. |
