Description: |
The SMART program offers participants an intense 9-week research experience in the biomedical studies. Participants are paired up with labs eager to mentor an undergraduate. This pairing is based on the applicants research interests and previous experiences. Every lab is well funded and offers the best equipment to facilitate an independent research project. Students will have the opportunity to work on projects that span the spectrum of biomedical science, including: biochemistry, biomedical engineering, cancer studies, cardiovascular sciences, cell and molecular biology, cell biology, computational biology, developmental biology, gene therapy, immunology, microbiology, molecular biophysics, molecular genetics, molecular pathobiology, neuroscience, nutrition, pediatrics, pharmacology, physiology, and structural biology. Students will also participate in a series of seminars, career building events, GRE prep courses, and will also have the chance to shadow physicians and observe their work. |
