The University of Maryland School of Medicine sponsors a number of programs for underrepresented minority students and soon to be medical students both on their campus and at several foreign sites. Programs include: Short Term Training for Heart, Lung and Blood for students considering careers related to cardiology, pulmonary disease or hematology; Fogarty Minority International Research Training Program for students seeking careers in cardiology, drug development, disease, neuroscience, oncology, immunology, and vaccine development; Training for Medical Students; The Health Disparities Research Training Program which focuses on cancer, pulmonary, and renal disease. Finally, the Volunteer Research Program places students in all areas of study at the School of Medicine. |
Benefits: |
Stipend amount varies between programs and range between $200-$416/wk. Additional funds for housing and travel may be available. Expenses for travel, insurance, and language courses can be covered when necessary. |
