Description: |
The Internship Programs are supported by the US Dept. of Energy (DOE) National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) and administered by the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE). Assignments will be at either the Pittsburgh, PA or Morgantown, WV facility. The programs are designed to provide educational research training in a variety of disciplines and technologies for students currently enrolled in a baccalaureate program. Assignments afford appointees the opportunity to apply and practice the theories and methods learned in the classroom. Appointees are assigned independent fossil energy-related research projects that correlate with their academic and career goals. They make recommendations or reports regarding their findings or solutions to a staff member of the center who provides guidance and advice, serves as their research advisor, and reviews the findings.
The National Energy Technology Laboratory is the largest fossil energy research organization in the world. NETL manages the nation's fossil energy research development programs for coal and natural gas, developing technologies that will allow the use of our nation's fossil energy resources more cleanly and efficiently. NETL has a staff of about 500 scientists, engineers, technicians, and supporting personnel. NETL's Pittsburgh facility is located in South Park Township, about 12 miles south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. NETL's Morgantown facility is located near West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. |
